HAVE YOUR MOTOR AND TRANSMISSION MOUNTS CHECKED
WHETHER YOU PUT YOUR RIG IN FORWARD OR REVERSE, YOUR ENGINE WILL "TORQUE" TOWARDS YOU OR TOWARDS THE RADIATOR. (THIS IS NORMAL)
RAISE YOUR HOOD TO VERIFY THIS. STAND BESIDE (NOT IN FRONT OF) YOUR VEHICLE WHILE SOMEONE ELSE HOLDS THE BRAKE AND SHIFTS TO DRIVE, AND THEN TO REVERSE.
WITH WORN/ BROKEN/ LOOSE MOUNTS THE ENGINE WILL TORQUE FURTHER THAN NORMAL.
IN REVERSE, IT SOUNDS LIKE IT IS GETTING THE FRONT OF THE A/C COMPRESSOR CLOSE/ OR EVEN TOUCHING A STATIONARY PART OF YOUR VEHICLE.
THE PART OF THE COMPRESSOR THAT IS CLOSE OR TOUCHING IS THE A/C CLUTCH.
THE CLUTCH ONLY TURNS ON/ ENGAGES WHEN THE A/C IS TURNED ON, ON MANY MODERN VEHICLES, IT WILL ALSO TURN ON IF YOU USE HEATER SETTINGS THAT INCLUDE A "DEFROST MODE" (AIDS IN REMOVING MOISTURE BEFORE THE AIR HITS YOUR WINDSHIELD)
THIS CLUTCH IS ON THE OUTSIDE OF THE A/C PULLEY. WHEN YOU TURN ON THE A/C THE CLUTCH "ELECTROMAGNETICALLY" GRABS ONTO THE TURNING PULLEY, WHICH IN TURN, TURNS THE COMPRESSOR SHAFT.
YOU MIGHT LOOK IN THE AREA WHERE THIS WOULD HAPPEN AND MAYBE SEE "SHINEY" OR SCUFFED UP METAL WHERE IT HAS BEEN HITTING THE STATIONARY PART OF THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT.
MY HYPOTHESIS IS THE RACKET ONLY HAPPENS OR HITS WHEN THE CLUTCH IS ENGAGED AND SLAPPING THE OTHER CAR PART. OTHERWISE, WHEN IT'S OFF, IT MAY ONLY TORQUE AND TOUCH
I FOUND A VIDEO (OF A DIFFERENT VEHICLE) THAT SHOWS THE A/C BEING TURNED OFF AND ON DISPLAYING THE CLUTCH MOVING AND NOT MOVING. YOURS MAY BE DEEP DOWN AND HARD TO SEE

THIS REALLY NEEDS TO BE FIXED, OTHER STUFF MAY ALSO GET STRESSED AND BECOME AN UNSAFE OR "WALKING" KINDA CONDITION!
LET ME KNOW IF I WAS ON TARGET!
