2007 Fiat Punto Car Failed Mot On Cracked Coil Spring Taking Off Drop Link They

The car failed the mot on a cracked coil spring. In taking off the drop link they had to apply heat therefore phoned me to advise it would cost extra. They phoned again to say there's play in the top strut bearing and although this wasn't a fail in the mot they think this helped cause the crack and since all parts fitted come with a year's guarantee they couldn't guarantee the Pratt unless the strut bearing was fixed........at cost. Just need to know if this is good advice?

If there are anything wrong, it is best to have it rectified rather than doing the job again later.
