Valves Tapping

Valves tapping on my PT Cruiser 2007 whether engine is hot or cold. Notice it mostly when I am stopped at a light etc.

When was the last time the engine oil & filter was changed, if a while do this as often dirty oil can cause lifters to act up, if no good, you will have to get new lifters, do the set as if not you will get another noisy one sooner rather than later.

The oil is changed every 3-4000 miles so it has to be the lifters that need replacing. Is this an expensive car repair?
