2007 Chrysler Apen gascap light

I have a 2007 Chrysler Aspen and the gascap light is coming on followed by the engine light. I have replaced gascap and the light still comes on. Trying to find out problem and will this effect the engine?

You would have to get the codes read to know what kind of issue you are dealing with but most EVAP system problem will effect emissions only. If it's a leak problem in the system, you will need to use a smoke machine to find it. The gas cap is not the only place it can leak.
