2007 Chevrolet Tahoe differential bearing help

So I got a 07 chevy Tahoe 5.3 4 wheel drive flex fuel my pinion bearings where shot so I replace all of them pinion bearings and and differential Axel bearings no when I go to put the carrier in with the stock shims it goes in really rought a have to hit shim wit hammer to get in and when I got toque bolts downs it locks up the whole gears when I take out the shim out on the driver side it moves ok my question is do I have use new shim's on new bearings r will the old ones work any help will b appreciated thank u also I got the bearing kit from orallys autoparts

The crown wheel and pinion clearance is very critical, the diff will have to be set up as if new, if you get this wrong you will destroy the diff in a very short time, I recommend that you get the diff set up by a qualified final drive Workshop, this is not a job to be done at home, many general mechanics will not do this part of the diff rebuild, it should not cost very much to get the pre loads and crown wheel and pinion tooth position set up.

Ok yes I understand but y when I put the carrier it feels like if the pinion was not all the way in when I go to torque the carrier down it feels like its putting pressure on pinion and it just locks and that's using the stock shims my question is if I'm putting new bearings why doesn't it just go back same is the old ones and what is the correct way to install the pinion and torque specs it almost feels like pinion is not sitting right thank u
