When I turn on air nothing blows out of vents in dash. The air blows thru the aux vents in roof only. The ac works I feel cold air just no forced air from dash vents. When it first started not working one random day I tried it and it worked only one day now its been weeks and it won't work at all. No defroster vent or floor vent in dash blow either

Defrost, side window, floor and rear vents all work. What simple things like fuse/filters/vacuum can I check before taking to the dealer? The only event prior to problem was a jump start for a dead battery.

Remove the negative battery cable and leave it off for about 5 minutes. re install it and try it. that re boots the bcm which is what controls those functions along with the hvac module. If that doesn't work it sounds like the mode blend door actuator is not working this guide can help us fix it.

2005 Tahoe. Air has ceased from blowing out of the defroster, floor and direct vents and I cannot hear the blower running either. The rear auxiliary air/blower works just fine. The temp control seems to be working fine as I can feel it through all vents. Just no air coming from the front.

If you can't hear the fan running, make sure all fuses are good. If they are, then you need to check if the fan motor is getting power.

I just bought this SUV and at first thought the air didn't work at all. The motor gives off a very loud noise and when I switch the vents. Nothing happens. I realized that the cold air blows cold and the heat is very warm and the switch just fine, but for some reason my air blows out of all of the vents. I was told I need a new dual climate blend door actuator. Does that sound right to you guys? I don't want to spend the money if it could be an easier fix. Because my air works just everywhere all at once. I haven't checked the rear AC/heat yet.

Hi Bonnie,

This does in deed sound like a mode door. If the temp is correct (cold/hot) but just comes out the wrong vent or all the vents it is because the mode door is not directing the air to the correct area. If you look at the attachments it will show the door placement and then the way to replace the actuator.

Let me know if you have any other questions. Thanks

You are welcome. It looks like the mode door also directs it to the rear so I would have that checked out if you are not going to do it yourself. Feel free to come back anytime if you have any other questions. Thanks

I have changed the drivers side panel mode actuator and the passenger side lower temperature actuator. Now it cycles through all excepts the front vents. When I put it on vents it blows for just seconds then pulls back to blow through defrost.
If I put it on vent and floor setting it will blow through vents and floor just fine. But not vents alone.

Hey ELIZABETH PETIT,

Please attempt a relearn of the HVAC position motors.

There is a picture attached below which describes how to do this without a scan tool.

Also attached is a picture of the under hood fuse board which contains the HVAC/ECAS 10A fuse.

Let us know how this goes for you.

Regards, Joe
