Electrical Problem

2007 Chevy Suburban Z71. Wife tried to use program the garage door opening system without success. After 30 minutes, she tried to start the vehicle and received an ignition and battery warning message. Lights will come on in the vehicle and the ignition process stops short of turning over. Vehicle will not start. Disconnected and reconnected the battery with no results.

I don't believe she caused the issue. However, anything is possible. Check the battery to make sure it is fully charged. See if you can jump start it. If nothing works, you need to check the starter. Have a helper turn the key to the start position while you check for power to the smaller wire to the starter. You should get 12+ volts. If you do, the problem is at the starter. If there isn't power, check the starter relay and make sure it is getting power. From there, move to the ignition switch.
