I have the part- Front Impact sensor- to be replaced (DTC code B0083). Im wondering if there is a specific procedure for discharging the electrical system prior to replacing the front impact sensor?

I am attaching the procedure from the manual below on the testing information for this code.

Plus I am attaching the process below to replace this sensor. Yes you need to discharge the system just to be sure there are no accidental deployment. There is a process for this as well and I attached it below along with the other info.

Let us know if there are questions. Thanks

The Air Bag sensor on my 2005 silverado PU just went on ( no collison) I live on the big island of Hawaii and the closest GM service is 100 miles. I use the truck to put my boat in the water. What needs replacing and where is it located?

Thanks

Mike

It could be a bad sensor (more than one) or the clock spring in the steering. The only way to be sure is to have the computer scanned. The computer will identify where the problem is coming from. If you don't do that, you will end up spending a lot of money on non-returnable parts that aren't needed. You should be able to get the computer scanned at any shop.
