Impala does not heat when idle. It doesn't therefore heat to defrost car unless driving. Air cools when idling at standstill. Replaced thermostat x2, hoses good, coolant & other fluids good. Have spent $800 plus in 2 visits, but the same. Help. What else do I check?

The only thing that could cause that is if the cooling fans are constantly running or the thermostat is stuck open. Does the temp gauge indicate that the engine is cold when this happens?

If the temp gauge is reading a normal temp (warmed up) and you're not getting heat, when it is happening, feel both heater core hoses and see if both are hot. Let me know what you find.
