My check engine came on and the code says cam sensor malfunction I have replaced the front cam sensor. During repair I removed the neg battery cable after replacing the front sensor I replaced the neg battery cable. After a test drive the check engine light came on again and the code that says malfunction of cam sensor returned where is the rear cam sensor located.

My info only shows one cam sensor for the 2.2L./Intake. The 2.4L shows two cam sensors, one for the intake, one for the exhaust.

What was the actual code #? Are there any drivability issues? I usually check the wiring circuit for the cam sensor, first. Three wire sensor, ref voltage--ground and signal circuits.

Usually, return is the ground for the sensor. Our normal database didn't show codes for this vehicle or I didn't find it? The database that we use was overhauled in the not too distant past, I guess it still has bugs?

Check out the diagrams (Below). Please let us know if you need anything else to get the problem fixed.

Just wanted to show wire colors for cam sensor.
Orange wire is signal.
Dark blue wire is ref voltage--5 volts
Tan wire is low ref, usually a ground.

Any testing use a digital multimeter.
