When I'm at a stop,sounds like the engine speed goes up and down, but the rpm's don't change.What is the normal rpm's for a 2006 volvo xc90 5 cyl. when idling ?

Idle should be 800 RPM +-100 RPM. If you are having issues the Idle air Control Valve needs replacement.
