Removing the steering wheel
Remove the driver's airbag module. See Airbag driver and passenger (SRS), replacing See: Restraint Systems\Air Bag Systems\Air Bag\Service and Repair.

Note! Ensure that the steering wheel is horizontal.







Remove:


the bolt from the home position. Secure the contact reel
the bolt for the steering wheel - steering column
the steering wheel.
Hint: Route the connectors through the hole in the steering wheel one by one.

Installing the steering wheel
Route the connectors through the hole in the steering wheel one by one.

Install:


the steering wheel
The bolt for the steering wheel - steering column. Use a new bolt. Tighten according to: Tightening torque See: Specifications.
Remove the screw from the contact reel. Place the screw in the resting position.
Install the driver's airbag module. See Airbag driver and passenger (SRS), replacing See: Restraint Systems\Air Bag Systems\Air Bag\Service and Repair.

Is the steering wheel loose or something else? To tighten the steering wheel bolt, just remove the drivers air bag. You should have the battery disconnected before attempting to remove the air bag.
Warning! Under no circumstances use an ohmmeter or other live measuring instrument to take readings on a disconnected, non-deployed pyrotechnical SRS component. There is a risk of the seat belt tensioner deploying.

Warning! Pyrotechnical SRS components must never be taken apart, repaired or transferred to another vehicle.

Switch on the ignition so that the steering wheel can be turned to the correct position.
Turn the steering wheel a ¼ turn so that the two holes on the rear of the steering wheel are accessible.

a screwdriver in the holes on the rear at right angles to the reverse of the steering wheel.
Place the screwdriver point against the top of the spring clip. Pry the screwdriver up against the upper edge of the hole so that the point of the screwdriver presses down the catch until the catch releases.Turn the steering wheel a ½ turn in the opposite direction. Repeat the process on the other side.
Turn the steering wheel to the neutral position.
Fold out the airbag.

Disconnect the 2 connectors (1) (there may be more or less) for the SRS ignition cables for the airbag.
Remove the airbag.

Tighten steering wheel bolt and then reinstall the connectors and press bag into place.
