2006 Volvo S40 leaking expansion box

Hi my Volvo S40i just shoots out water and coolant from the expansion box when I switch it off.
Doesn't happen all the time. Happens when I drive in bumper to bumper traffic or a long distance.
My temperature guage in the car does not indicate a rise in temperature. The guage is normal. The box
has lots of holes now. Please advise me. Many thanks

Are you referring to the expansion tank? If so this must be sealed for the cooling system to work correctly, fix this flush the radiator, replace the thermostat and replace coolant with new recommended coolant, start here.
