2006 Volkswagen Beetle dead battery

i was attempting to jump car when i heard a pop and everything stopped working the lights , horn ,and all the dash lights the car went completely dead, could it be a fuse . i just replaced the battery 6 months ago

Most likely it was a fuse. Probably a large main fuse. Did you connect the jumper cables backwards to cause the issue? I think VW has the large fuses near the battery somewhere that are just metal strips. check those to see if any are burnt open.
