Zafira 2006 Turbo Diesel loosing power

Hi there, I have a 2006 Turbo Diesel Vauxhall Zafira that I am having trouble with. Recently the engine management light came on and the car is loosing power now and again. Apparently it could be something to with the particulate filter in these cars. The car has 65,000 miles. When I switch the car off, there is a bad smell and a cracking or cooling down noise coming from the exhaust. Could you advise on this problem.

what is the code??

it sounds like a turbo issue but we need the code number to narrow doen the area of failure
