Whenever I am traveling at a moderate to fast speed and have to stop quickly there is a delay when I attempt to press the accelerator. Sometimes it is a long delay and other times it is short. There is usually a loud sound of the either fuel or transmission engaging. I have read several articles and some say fuel and some say transmission. They say to do a transmission flush but to only got to Toyota because of their specific transmission fluid used. At a loss.

Is there a lag in the engine or does the engine rev and then the transmission kick in? As far as the trans fluid, you don't have to get it at a dealer. There are many companies that make it to Toyota's specs.

Yes the engine does rev before it kicks in.

I hate to say it, since the engine is doing its job, it sounds like the problem is coming from the trans. Have you had it checked by a transmission tech? Without a check engine light, it becomes a guessing game from my point of view.
