What are the risks in terms of future repairs/replacement of parts of buying a Carolla which has 147,000 miles? All other aspects of the car appear to be in very good shape, including the tires and body.

depends how you drive it, if you bet the crap out of it it won't last but if you take care of it with oil changes etc and drive it right it may last for a while. tires and brake wear are normal wear items.
