Oil was changed about 1000 miles ago, and now the Maint Req. light is lite up on the dash board. I checked the manual and it says change oil.Is this light a counter say every 3K miles to change oil and if so how do you turn it off.

the light should be reset by the changer. hold in the trip reset, turn the key to the on position till the light blinks and goes out
