The two windsheild wipers came together stick. Then the passenger windsheild wiper broke. What is the fix to this?

I feel that tone of the wiper arms may have come loose on the pivot, I would replace both arms and ensure that the pivots are ok, they normally have serrated faces that grip into the cone that locates the arms, check that these are serviceable. To replace remove the arms and turn the wipers on ten off so they self park, fit the arms so they rest on the lower part of the screen.
