My 2006 Forester X manual has noisy thrust bearing. How urgent is it to replace it?

I would be getting this look at sooner rather than later, the bearing may start to seize up and if that happens, you will do some serious damage to the clutch and you will be stranded, and this is normally at the most inconvenient time.
