The park lights came on and will not go off. No matter what position the light controller is in.

Check and test the headlight switch

There is a rocker switch located on top of the steering column. This switch turns the parking lights on and off independently of the main switch on the turn signal stalk. I learned this the hard way on a borrowed Forester last week. Simply rotate the rocker switch to the opposite position and your parking lamps will go out.
