car door won't close

The latch is stuck open I can move it back and forth but it wont stay down to keep door closed. So my door just pops open when I shut it. Someone said it could be a broken spring in the latch but it would nice if it is something I can fix on my own. Advice? Also, if I need to bring it to be fixed would you be able to ESTIMATE (obviously) on the cost..? Thank you!

Hello,

Yes you can change the door latch yourself you must start by removing the door panel

Here are diagrams to hep you see what you are in for when charging the door latch out.

The latch you can get from rock auto for about $50.00
