2006 Saturn Ion rack&pinion

Will a rack&pinion cause a car to wander when driving down the highway and will it cause the car to get out of alignment? Firestone check the alignment they said it was out of alignment bad and when I rock the steerling wheel from left to right noise come from the front end and they said the rack&pinion is causing the front end to be out of alignment is that true?

I don't know how accurate their inspection was but yes a worn rack can cause alignment issues and poor steering.

You can't align it with a bad rack. My advice would be to get a second opinion on the front end components.

I took the 2006 Saturn Ion 2 in and got a second opinion they said the lower control arms is worn on the front is what causing the car to wander when driving down the road do that sound correct?
