temperature gauge

2006 saab turbo conv.
temp gauge only returns to 1/2 way when cold and reads hot at running temp. Check engine icon is lit and screen shows TEMP. engine is running at normal temperature.
Whta is the problem?

ok your problem maybe software related ,to solve this ,u will need to take both battery terminals off ,then take both & touch them together for a few like 10 seconds ,what that is going to do is to reset all the vehicles control module that have a issue ,note will not arm the vehicle in anyways what so ever ,now refit both & reset your time & date & u should be good ,if that works let me know ,if not get the codes read from the system & post it here ,good luck.
