if I don't let the pre-drive service engine check complete. If I wait for it to say Checking O.K.

Service Engine light comes on. I had the oil changed after 10,000 miles. Car has 69500 miles total. I told them at Sears to re-set the Service Engine computer so it re-starts counting the miles till my next oil change. After serviceing the oil, the Service Engine light was out.

Now from time to time if I try to start the car before the servive check is complete, the Service Engine light comes on again. If I turn off the car and let the service check complete itself the computer says "Checking O.K." What is going on?

Have the computer scanned with a scanner. See if that will read the problem.
