Code P0773

I am wanting to buy this car listed above, year 2006 convertible but it has code PO773. The owner said it shift rough after driving it for an hour or so. Also has airbag malfunction shows on dash. Please advise how this transmission issue would be repaired and approximate cost. Thanks

This code is for the transmission control module.

There no real diagnostics for this. It just states to replace the transmission control module.

Fault symptom

On-board diagnosis

Type of diagnosis:
Continuous

Enable criteria:
Engine running and not in limp home mode.

Fault criteria:
Solenoid signal output is ON but the input receives an OFF signal.

System reaction to a fault:
Limp home

Checking the wiring harness
Move the wiring harness at several spots and in several directions to reveal intermittent breaks and short-circuits. Check switches, connectors and crimp connections for oxidation, retracted pins and pin clamping force.

Diagnostic help

Diagnosis regards:
Electrical fault in connecting leads or component.

1. Remove the battery cover and the battery cooling pipe.

Important: Take care when releasing the locking mechanism on the connector so as not to damage the connector. Pull the halves straight apart to avoid bending the pins. For further information regarding connectors, refer to Connectors, handling and inspection.

2. Unplug the control module connector.
3. Remove the control module. Make a note of how it is mounted for correct refitting.
