i replaced my water pump and i'm having overheating problems, i'm pretty sure i need to replace my head gasket, are there any other issues i should have checked when the valve cover is off?

first, replace the thermostat and bleed the system.

next, get a leak down test done to verify the head gasket.

why did you replace the head gasket?? did it overheat??
