Is the pcm not allowing vital systems to run to protect the car, by not activating the relay that controls the throttle, spark plugs, injectors, etc? My friends 2006 pontiac grand prix died while driving and read reduced engine power on the display. Most google results indicated a throttle body or tps problem. We pulled the engine codes and got p0036 o2 sensor, we cleared the code and tried to start the car, as before it would crank but not run, then we got the code p0030 same issue for the sensor on the other bank. Ive tested all fuses and all relays, and have determined that there is no power to the throttle body, injectors, spark plugs, and o2 sensors. These are all controlled by the pcm relay. There is power on one side of the coil, but it seems the pcm is not giving a ground trigger. What doesnt make sense is the o2 code being given when the sensors dont have power. Shouldnt there be more codes than that if its just not getting power, like the throttle body? Anyway, we are stuck, since we got 2 codes for 2 sensors, could they both have gone bad? Short or open wire? Pcm? The car has 77000 miles on it. Any advise would be appreciated.
