SUV makes a clunking noise when I apply the brakes to stop at about 25 miles then it clunks but the check engine light not on

You need to first get the brakes and suspension inspected by a qualified mechanic, do this ASAP there are many items that can cause this so get it looked at before something possibly breaks.
