i already added a qt of matic j transmission fluid should i add more?

i have a 2006 nissan v8 5.6 liter titan it is making a winding noise and i have added matic j transmission fluid the winding noise went down my question is should i add more fluid or am i to late and the damage is already done?

Have you checked the fluid level yet? Never add fluid of any sort without verifying the level first. Damage can result from too much fluid.
