2006 Nissan Pathfinder It got stuck

Hello, as I was backing up from my drive way I changed gear but the car got stuck in the Reverse gear. I made sure to properly change gear but I don't know what the problem is. The shifter is not stuck but the car refuses to turn on. When i put the car on the on mode, the letter R is on my dash and refuses to change. Please help

you'll have to get it scanned for codes but have a trans guy do it as it may be a valve body problem.
