"coolant" warning light tuned on?

Please this is very urgent! I've never had problems with my Vito. But now that I drove approximately 900 km (quite a lot faster than usual) to deliver the car to a new owner, it gives me problems.

First the "coolant" warning light came on but after switching the engine off and on, the warning stopped but I checked it anyway. About 100km further the yellow engine diagnostic indicator lamp light came on. My manual says its either out of fuel (not so) or running in emergency mode.

I have NO clue as to what to do! Please help me urgently as I must deliver the car in about 2 hours!

Hi lizaverreyne,

This problem occurred to me once. It most probably must be a clogged EGR valve. I believe it analizes exaust fumes or pressure so to adapt the fuel injection.

You can either replace the valve or clean it well and reinstall. The light will only come out at a dealer. You can ask them to "erase" that light or any light for a cheap price.

The only thing is if the problem continues to appear.

In emergency mode, the car will just be operating at half it's power, and revs limited.

Hope this helps, regards,

Hi,

Thank you for that information. The post is somewhat older. However, your addition will likely help others in the future.

Take care,
