The park lock solenoid is actuated by power from the brake light switch. When you press the brake, the lights come on and power goes to the solenoid to release the vehicle from park. If there is no power, you won't be able to change gears. Check fuses first. If they are good, check to see if there is power to the brake light switch on the top of the brake pedal lever. If there is power, chances are the switch is bad.
