Cruise control quit working out of the blue on our Tribute. Light does not engage either so do not think its a cable problem. Have checked fuses, confirmed that the switch on the brake pedal is functioning, not sure wher to go next. We do not have a Mazda dealership in town.

Check the horn operation. If it also doesn't work, and / or the Air Bag warning light comes on, suspect a broken clock spring under the steering wheel. As for the cruise control, the clock spring is involved if the cruise control's buttons are on the steering wheel, not on the turn signal lever or head light lever, (on some cars).
