Is there a way to program how and when the automatic windows work? I dont know if the problem is in the key fob, wiring, or computer. The car has a feature that when you press the unlock button twice and hold on second press the front windows will roll down. For some reason sometimes the windows will roll down from one press and no hold. Also occasionally when i use the key in the door to roll up the window when I remove the key the doors will unlock and the windows will just roll back down. Is this a problem with the key fob, wiring, or computer? I know if i am sitting in the car with key in ignition but not on or anything sometimes i will hear the doors trying to lock or unlock every so often which im sure has something to do with the window rolling down problem. Im trying to avoid taking it to mazda to have it checked until i have an idea of what the cause is because they want to charge $100 just to connect it to the computer to look. Please help, any help is greatly appreciated.

I guess no help for this one. Its probably something I will have to either deal with or talk to Mazda about. Thanks.

The locks self-activating indicates a possible fault with the door lock/unlock switch and that could be the cause of all the problems you are having.

They only self activate when the key fob is near the car. if the keys are nowhere near the car or out of range nothing happens everything stays as normal. But you are saying that a faulty lock/unlock switch on the door could be causing windows to roll down on a single press or to be activated when the key fob is near whether a button is pressed or not? I know its not a problem with the key fob as I have tried 2 key fobs and both give same results.

I meant to ask, are you talking about the button inside the car that you press to unlock the doors or the part where you insert key to unlock doors?

Sorry for the delay in replying. none of the above. It is the switch to indicate if the door is locked or unlocked and it can be attached to the key cylinder or door lock actuator.

What is the exact name of the part so I can see how much it would cost to replace it? Also, could it be the sensor for the remote malfunctioning causing the locks to lock/unlock on its own and also the windows rolling down when they shouldnt?

I'm having trouble finding the part. Do you think you can link to the part on an auto site so I can order it? Your help is appreciated.

Sorry I don't have a link for you. You would need to check with the parts store or junk yard to see if they can help.
