Ok, since last winter I have had problems with the air vents. It used to get stuck on defrost mode and wouldnt change to front vents or floor. Now it seems to be a little different. When I change it to defost it seems to change to floor only which is like 1 or 2 spaces before defrost. I noticed that when I have it set to recycled air and I change it to defrost that the air type does change to outside air from recycled as if the vents were changed to defrost so I think it is seeing that it is put in defrost just not blowing from the top defrost vents like it should. Any ideas of what this could be? We are about to be hitting winter weather and I need my defrost to be able to drive. Please let me know as soon as possible. Thank you.

it may be the mode actuator try pulling hvac fuse inside car with key on for 60 seconds it may reset. do not move controls during this. see if actuator gets power if still not working then scan for codes if not.

The closest thing to HVAC that I see is the A/C fuse. Also where exactly is the actuator located?

I pulled the ac fuse which cut off the unit but it didn't fix the problem. So I'm guessing it is the actuator or something else.

this actuator may be on passenger side under dash. the a/c fuse does the one actuator for air mix pull the room fuse under dash. see pic for actuator which you will have to pull glove box to access you mayhave to pull navigation unit depending on what type you have as well.

Would you happen to have a item number for the actuator? I cannot seem to find the part at any auto parts store or even online so the only way i can think to find it is by item number.
