I have a 2006 Mazda 3 with approx. 90,000 miles. My mechanic says that the right front strut needs replacing but he feels that if you replace one you should also replace the other at the same time? Do you agree?

The car was making a rattling noise over bumps in the road.

sounds right. struts have a life of about 50-60k. it is a common failure but make sure the link kits and all the steering components are in good order too. if you doubt him, get a second opinion.
