how do I remove a harmonic balancer on a 06 Kia sportage v6, there are no threads on the balancer to attach a puller.

Have to tried just pulling it off. Some cars don't use the pressed on type. Use a pry bar to help. Check out the diagrams (Below). Please let us know what happens. It does look like there are holes for the puller though

yes I tried pulling it off ,but it only pulls out about an inch,

If you can move it at all, that means it is not pressed on and will come off.

Just rock it back and forth. Put a little force behind it with a prybar as long as you have something solid enough to pry against without causing any damage.

I noticed now that the sprocket behind the balancer is moving foward, is that ok, will that come out with the balancer,?

No, leave the sprocket in place or the belt will jump.

I cant pull that off without that sprocket coming off with it, I can see the keyway as I keep pulling on it, if that whole assembly comes off how do I take the sprocket off the balancer?
