2006 Kia Carnival motor retiming

I had changed engine piston when I fixed the engine has refused to run the mechanic said the timing is not correct so I need how to adjust the timing for my crdi 2.9 diesel j3 engine

What the mechanic is talking about is either the valve timing or the injection timing. Injection is computer-controlled, so we can pretty much ignore that. Valve timing is controlled by a chain or belt connecting the crankshaft to the camshaft(s). The gears or pulleys that the belt runs on all have identifying marks that need to be lined up. I'm not familiar with your engine, but with others, these marks either line up with each other, or point to certain marks in the timing chain/belt area.

MY recommendation is to find a motor manual for your particular car/engine. I searched through our whole reference for any Kia diesel engine I can use as a baseline reference, but couldn't find one.
