2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee wheel hub

2006 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE

I changed the hub assembly on front left. When doing so I noticed the Axel nut isn't retained with a cotter pin or any retaining clip. Should there be one, is this be normal?

It is OK Nut is not quite a circle more oval so when torqued to proper setting it remains tight
