overheating problem

yesterday i was driving my car in city with a/c turned on.engine temperature was normal.cooling fan was working appropriately.it was turning on and off when needed.but suddenly temperature started rising.fan was not working.i turned engine off at once.i opened the bonnet and saw coolant in the bottle boiling and trying to come out of the bottle.i turned the engine on again and this time fan also started with engine.do you think it is problem of thermostat valve or thermostat switch?

you just blew the head gaskets.

why did the cooling fan not worked to keep temperature appropriate?

they relay or the coolant temp. sensor is faulty.go to the parts store they have a test kit to check your coolant for signs off hydrocarbons.then youll know.its possable the radiator cap may be bad but i dought it. ty for using 2carpros
