2006 Hyundai Elantra Temperature Guage Been Way Remaining There Will Slowly Drop

My temperature guage has been going all the way up remaining there and then will slowly drop back down to the center. I also noticed that when this happens, before the arm drops back down, there is a crackling noise that comes from the passenger side behind the glove box. Any ideas?

check grounds it may be bad for the guages.
