2006 Honda Odyssey Having Trouble Getting Starter Change Underneath Access

I am having trouble getting to the starter to change it. Do I go from underneath? Or do I access it from the top? I can't get the battery tray out.

Why can't you take the battery tray out? Access is from top and rather straightforward.
