2006 honda civic hybrid. Problem intermittently occurs after car has been sitting overnight or a while. When going up a steep hill or going onto the freeway, (heavy load) the assist indicator maxes out and engine starts to buckle, hesitates losses much of the power, can only crawl 5 mph at most. When I recycle the engine (turn off then on) problem disappears. Has anyone ever experienced this sort of problem?

Has the check engine light come on? It sounds like the gas engine is missing.

Let me know.

Check engine light does not illuminate. Going on flat terrain car acts normal, acceleration is fine.

Sorry. It takes a little longer when I'm not there. I'm trying to limit possible problems. If you change your mind, let me know.

Took car into shop, turned out to be cvt trans fluid was burnt, (no good) tech changed trans fluid twice to try to clean it out, it works fine now, hopefully will last. Seems like the trans is very sensitive, to react the way it did, not very bullet proof, kind of wimpy if you will.

I couldn't agree more. That's today's technology. Great MPG but pray nothing breaks.

I have to be honest, keep an eye on the fluid. The next time you may not get as lucky. They are exactly what you said, "whimpy."

I wish you and you family a happy new year, and thanks for using 2carpros. Com.
