As per mechanic, out of 4 rear starting coils 2 are not working and need to replace. Instead for replacing the coils which are very costly I hv replaced all 8 spark plugs and now the car is running w/o jerks.
How to identify if these coils are functioning OK.
Also if these coils are not functioning will it create any new problem in any other circuit or parts.

The coils may have caused plug failure. If it runs ok, then go with it for now. If it starts missing again, plugs and the needed coils will have to be done

An oscilloscope woudl allow you to monitor each ignition coil operations.
Normal procedure for testing is to measure the resistance of the coil.
Most probably your mechanic misdiagnosed bad spark plugs as faulty coils.
