Hi, I have a VZ, always serviced, 120,000kms on the clock. Recently had a new ( not reconditioned) ECU fitted. I started the car from cold, check powertrain light came on, engine misfiring. Smoke started coming from under the bonnet. Mechanic found a coil pack had melted. Smoke & smell was from melting plastic. New set of coil packs fitted and mechanic says engine still misfiring. Fault codes say one bank of injectors not working.
Mechanic not sure what the cause is yet.
Could the ECU be faulty and fried the coil pack? Or could the faulty coil pack fry the ECU? The ECU just cost me $1,300. Your advice would be greatly.

We don't have that car here in the US but the general rule with a failed computer is find out what made it fail before installing a new one. They generally don't fail on their own.
