can I swap an alternator that is the same amp rating just with different plug

i have an alternator for a ls1 vx ss commodore part# mxa306 and want to know if i can fit to an 2006 ls2 ve clubsport, they look identicle except for the plug, they each have a 2 pin plug except the ls1 alt plug is bigger, can i just cut and join cables can i fit an ls1 alternator to 06 ve ls2 alternator by cutting of plug and using spade connectors due to plug size difference both are 140 amp alternators and look identicle
