2006 Holden Barina Car switches off

The revs on my car sometimes sit very low at just under one. Other times goes up to 4 while parked
. This happens while driving and therefore causing my car to turn of. If I need to change gears when turning a corner the car switches of halfway through the turn.
What could be the problem and is it too expensive to fix.

Check the idle air control valve (IAC) and check for engine vacuum leaks. If the check engine light is on, have the computer scanned for trouble codes.
