What can cause my 4.8 liter gmc sierra 2 wheel drive Pickup to heat up?

Your not clear, do you mean the engine is overheating?

I first put a Thermostat and it didn't work. Second I put a new water pump. And still nothing. It's circulating because the heater works. Earlier it would not blow hot air so I thought it was the water pump.

Have you checked the coolant level? If low have system pressure tested.

Disregard that reply we must have overlapped, How do you know the truck is overheating? Are you experiencing any other symptoms or does the truck overheat right away or extended driving?

The reason I asked how you know that it is overheating is because GM has a high failure rate on their instrument panel clusters/ gauges inaccurate.
