2006 GMC sierra sle 4x4 the 4x4 dosnt work but the front drive shaft turns and the actuator motor moves in and out when i took it off and switch from 4x4 to two wheel drive what could be wrong please ans thanks and the service 4x4 light is on

the piece that the actuator moves may be frozen in place or the actuator may not be able to move with itconnected. try wiggling the wire while turnign it off or on. It may not be getting good power. your transfer case module cold be bad and you need to have it scanned to see what is making theservice light go on. it may be the reason your 4wd doesn't work.
